Garlic Butter Mushrooms with Golden Spices
Ingredients:
- 1 pound white or baby bella mushrooms
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 to 4 garlic cloves, finely minced
- ¼ to ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon Golden Spices Ground Black Pepper
- 2 pinches dried thyme or 2 sprigs fresh thyme
- 2 pinches Golden Spices Red Pepper Flakes
Instructions:
- Clean the mushrooms and slice them into thick ½-inch pieces.
- In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
- Once the butter is hot and bubbling, add the mushrooms and toss to coat evenly. Sauté for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Lower the heat to medium. Stir in the garlic, salt, Golden Spices Ground Black Pepper, thyme, and Golden Spices Red Pepper Flakes. Continue cooking for another 3 to 4 minutes, stirring frequently until the mushrooms are tender and the garlic is aromatic.
- For extra richness, stir in a small knob of butter just before removing the skillet from heat—this will give the mushrooms a beautiful, glossy finish.
- Serve warm as a savory side dish, or pile onto toasted bread for an irresistible mushroom sandwich.
Golden Tips:
Use the right pan: Opt for a large skillet that allows the mushrooms to cook in a single layer. This helps moisture evaporate quickly and prevents steaming. If your pan is smaller, cook in batches.
Avoid over-stirring: Let the mushrooms sit undisturbed occasionally to develop a golden brown sear. Stirring too often can hinder caramelization.
Timing herbs right: Add dried herbs like Golden Spices Thyme early for maximum flavour release. Fresh herbs should go in just before serving to preserve their aroma.
Mind the slice: Keep mushroom slices thick (about ½ inch). This gives them enough surface to brown well without losing their meaty texture.
